Getting to Toledo by Air
Unless the price is prohibitive, use Toledo Express Airport (TOL), usually an easy 20-30 minutes from the University of Toledo and off-campus accommodations. The second choice, about an hour away, is Detroit Metro Airport (DTW).
Driving from Toledo Express to the Off-Campus Housing
Take Airport Highway east to I-475 north. Follow I-475 North to I-475 East. Exit on Secor Road. See also the details and maps on the Accommodations tab.

You can follow the same route, then continue south on Secor. See the instructions and maps on the Accommodations tab.
Alternatively. Exit I-475 at Central. Go east on Central to Secor Road, south on Secor to Bancroft, east on Bancroft to Campus Road.
Driving from Detroit Metro to the Off-Campus Housing / the University of Toledo
If you have nerves of steel, take I-275 south to I-75. Take I-75 South to I-475 West. Exity at Secor Road. Sounds easy?
If you prefer less stressful driving, take I-94 West to US 23, US 23 South to I-475, I-475 east to the Secor Road exit. It is a little longer but is easier on the nerves.
Getting to Toledo by Car
Coming from the east or west, use I-80/90. Coming from the south, you probably will use use I-75 or an interstate that gets you to I-80/90. From Canada, there are two possibilities. The direct route. From most of Canada, take 401 to Windsor and follow the signs to the International Bridge that connects to I-75. The scenic route. From most of Canada, take 401 to 402. Cross from Sarnia to Port Huron. Take I-69 to US 23 and go due south on 23 until you get to I-475 outside Toledo; then follow the directions above.
The scenic route actually takes barely longer than the direct route because the backups at the Windsor-Detroit bridge can be significant (45 minutes to 2 hours) and are rarely more than several minutes at Port Huron / Sarnia. Also, the Michigan woods look nicer than downtown Detroit. What's more, you can stop off in Pinconning, Michigan along the way for some very good sharp cheese that is distinctly different from a cheddar.
To see how I-80/90, I-75, I-475, and US 23 lead to Secor Road, go to Google maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=ll) and search for "Secor Rd, Toledo, OH" (exactly like this). The default marker will be at the Secor Road exit for I-475. Warning: It looks like you can go directly from I-80/90 to I-475, but you can't. If you are coming east on I-80/90, exit at Airport Highway, go east on Airport Highway to I-475; take I-475 North / East to the Secor exit; turn south (right – away from the overpass). If you are coming west on I-80/90, exit to I-75 North, then to I-475 West, then to Secor Road southbound (left – under the overpass).
